Flu Season: Protect Your Community
October 1–Ongoing
With covid-19 circulating, flu shots are more important than ever to limit the risk of having to fight off two diseases at once. Protect yourself and your community by making a plan to get your flu shot today. Call a participating pharmacy near you in advance to check their hours and vaccine availability. Then simply show up to the pharmacy, present your Cigna ID card, and receive your flu shot. Find more information on getting your flu shot and other vaccinations here.

Challenge 2: Creating a Family Disaster Preparedness Plan
Now that you've created a home safety plan, let's look at how to stay safe when conditions outside the house are less than ideal.
This week, we're challenging you to create a Family Disaster Preparedness Plan. Whether there are heavy storms, downed power lines, fires, flooding, or earthquakes, good preparation can help save lives. In creating this plan, you'll look at which disasters are most likely to affect your household, designate escape routes, stock emergency supplies, and create a plan for where to meet if you become separated from members of your household.
Visit the Red Cross Family Disaster Plan template to start creating your plan today. The Challenge 2 submission deadline is October 22nd, 2021. Good luck!
Participants can submit their plans to the Safety Committees in the form of written plans, photos, and videos. At the end of the month, the Safety Committees will hold a lunch and learn to review the thoroughness of the submitted drills and plans and select a winner to receive a prize: a home safety pack.
